This week I was kindly invited to the House of Fraser Summer Preview fashion show in Bournemouth. I went with a group of other gorgeous bloggers – Emma (TheStyleBox), Freya (NorseSouth), Jessica (Jessicannerevill), and Sarah (DaisychainsAndDreamers) and we got the full FROW + goody bag treatments. So VIP!
The collection was modelled mostly by House of Fraser staff so it had a lovely fun vibe. Everyone was just having a brilliant time, and clearly felt amazing in the clothes. Such a joy to watch! Can’t believe what a professional job everyone did – it’s definitely not easy walking down a catwalk in front of a crowd of strangers.
All the hair and makeup was done by Simone Thomas Salon and everyone looked absolutely stunning. Models smiling on the runway is seriously underrated! It was refreshing to see all heights and types strutting it on the runway and clearly feeling amazing in every outfit. Work it girls!
We were treated to a selection of day wear, party wear and evening wear with a huge mixture of florals, chiffon, laser cut, block colours – pretty much every trend you could ever need. I’ve included a few of my favourite outfits in this post but we were honestly spoilt for choice.
And of course… no fashion show is complete without some yummy male models. They too were really composed in the spotlight and did an awesome job. I now want to buy my boyfriend and entire new wardrobe (especially all the lovely smart-casual shoes the guys had on).
Probably the highlight of the whole evening was when the guys all came out with a Cinderella shoe on a cushion (in tuxes no less)! Major swoon moment #perfectman
Of course we had to finish with non-stop applause during the finale – and they certainly earned it. I so so enjoyed the show (although photographing a fashion show is almost impossible!) and it got me itching to try out the collection downstairs.
My top picks:
After the show all us bloggers were invited downstairs to give our views on the collection. HoF are trying to reach our age group more effectively so wanted to get our opinions on which departments stood out to us. To be honest with you guys I never really shop in HoF as I assume it was all a bit old or expensive…BUT… I’m now totally hooked! They seemed to have loads of deals going on, and some fab brands that I didn’t know were available in Bournemouth. For example, the Mango collection was lovely, as was the Warehouse selections.
I picked my recommended item as this striped geometric dress. I loved the diagonal zips and the multi directional stripes. I think it’d be fab for day, evening, parties or even weddings or christenings! It’s from Warehouse (£36) and although it’s not online right now there’s an almost identical one here: House of Fraser Warehouse
I also fell totally in love with this Mango dress as a timeless classic. The dropped flare hem is my totally obsession right now, and I love the casual print on this. Perfect for every occasion with heels or even flats! Again it’s not online so you’ll have to pop into store, but there’s a plain version here for only £25.
The whole event was in aid of Lewis Manning Hospice (an amazing local charity) so there were lots of other companies around kindly offering their services for free.
La Tasca Bournemouth supplied canapés and a huge paella which were beyond delicious. So so impressed. They also had pretty much unlimited champagne, and the gorgeous hair & makeup was done by Simone Thomas Salon. All round a fabulous evening – thanks for having me!
