Hellllooooo everyone! Today I wanted to share with you some fantastic (if I may say so myself) photos that a photographer friend of mine (Greg @ TP Photography) created. I thought I’d showcase some of my faux fur collection as it’s been a total lifesaver having come back from Thailand to freezing England. Everything in this lookbook is thrifted (of course!) so check out your local charity shop for similar goodies.
The ‘teddy bear’
First up is this dramatic look. I got the velvet dress in a Goodwill charity shop in Boston, and the coat is from a consignment store also in Boston. This was actually my first ever ‘fur’ (i.e. faux fur) coat as I was always worried they’d be hard to pull off. Turns out a trend that’s this timeless is easy to mix into your wardrobe! #duh I’ve had this coat for about 4 years now and hasn’t worn out at all despite a whole ton of outings (and a previous owner!).
I accessorised the outfit with a stunning ‘broken mirror’ necklace from Pimlico carboot sale in London. I featured it in my Carboot Haul Video on Youtube so check that out too. Plus of course some big rings I’ve picked up charity shopping over the years.
The ‘mobster’
Next up is this white and grey ombre effect coat. I call it my ‘mobster’ coat as it’s so oversized and fluffy I feel like some old-school mob wife. It’s insanely warm and definitely turns heads. I picked it up in the Lewis Manning Hospice charity shop in Westborne (Dorset)
The jumpsuit is such a wardrobe staple of mine – it converts brilliantly from day to night and I love the mesh cut out details. I got it from eBay and it was a total steal. I paired it with my brown fringe heels, which also came from eBay, and add a bit of texture to balance the coat.
The ‘pastels’
Finally, this seventies inspired look. I bought this dress in a charity shop in Sweden and I think it looks super expensive. It’s from their boutique premium range so is amazing thick scuba fabric and has a big oversized waist with a dropped hem. It’s right on trend and is another good day to night piece.
I mixed it in with two different coats – my super soft baby pink sleeveless coat, and my oversized cream one. Both are fabulous for different occasions, and I always think white and pastel colours are great on blonde with a colour pop lip.
The shoes are thrifted from Buffalo Exchange consignment in Boston and are featured in my Bargain Shoes Youtube video here.
That’s it!
Well…. for now anyway. I’ve got plenty of light coloured faux fur but I’d love a statement blue and also a dark brown or black. The hunt continues!
I mostly tend to go for vintage faux fur as I find the new high street stuff to be quite plasticy, but I’ll keep an eye out for some goodies in the summer when everyone forgets winter is coming and donates their collection!
Comment below with your faux fur thrift finds and let me know what’s in your collection.
