I gave up shopping for Lent and thankfully today it was all over. I am really proud I survived, and you can see what I plan to do with the money I saved in my previous post.
So, of course, the only way to break a fast like this was to head to my beloved Ashley Road with my even more beloved Sinead (a regular guest blogger on P2P).
Ashley Road trawling always starts with Waggy Tails which, despite a shoddy looking outside, always comes up with the goods. Today I got a tartan midi skirt for 50p, and Sinead got a le creuset dish for £4! I also got a lovely office dress for my Mum for £7 (I only break my Pauper budget on gifts of course)
Next stop…. Lewis Manning Hospice which had a real life cat asleep on the sofa! I loved the blue dress in the window, and Sinead got a fab laser cut pink blouse, while I got a cream angora sweater with the tags still attached for £3.50. It’s size 18 but we all know I just ignore the sizings (TIP!)
There was also a fab orange 80s prom dress (see photo!)
The Salvation Army is always really nicely laid out and a got a navy blue velvety polka dot midi skirt for £2.99 (see my post on The Midi Trend here)…. plus managed to resist these fab black cage shoes and the hilarious matching polo shirts.
Bennetts called for a lunch stop and you can see a full breakdown of our lovely bargain outfits here….
The Scope on Ashley Road is an ‘outlet’ store so everything is extra cheap and I love it! Sinead narrowly resisted a blue summer dress, but did get a feather printed cream blouse. I got a laser cut grey luxe tshirt (sneak previous in the photos). We also spotted a vintage Jasper Conran dress for only £6 – very tempting! We had a great laugh at me asking Sinead “Am I wrong to like this?” and her shouting “Oh my goodness yes!! That’s awful” – see Red heart tshirt below – do you agree??
Cry is always a good one too. I grabbed an amazing pair of green tartan trousers for £2.50 and a purple shimmery luxe tshirt for £1. Meanwhile… Sinead got a ‘fame’ style grey cropped sweater.
Finally, the new (and very swanky!) Age UK where I fell in love with the ultimate Legally Blonde pink pencil skirt for £2.95, and Sinead bagged a new with tags on M&S sequinned party top for just £3. She also spotted a pink version of the Kate Middleton engagement ring, and a rolling pin (??!!).
*Note to self * Must move to Bournemouth! Amazing bargains! 🙂 I love charity shops also. http://www.joyofblogs.wordpress.com
Haha – yeah it’s a gorgeous place to live! If you ever visit I’ll take you thrifting 😉
