OOTD with One Boutique

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another ethical outfit post – hope you’re as excited as I am…

I was recently approached by One Boutique to see if I’d like to review a couple of their garments. They are a UK based ethical clothing company so I knew we’d be a great match and gladly accepted. I was spoilt for choice on their website of super understated ‘just got out of bed’ cool picks, and eventually settled for one thing from their Mesh collection, and an oversized sweater dress.

Their collection is very monochrome, and as I said, ‘way too cool for school’. I wasn’t sure how easily it’d style into my existing wardrobe but when my parcel arrived both items were such lovely quality fabric I fell in love right away.

First up is this mesh full length top, with a turtle neck. I’m OBSESSED with turtle necks right now for layering or wearing on their own, and this is no exception. I love the mesh look and have a lot of cut out dresses etc, but this is like no mesh I’ve ever tried. It’s SO SO soft – I literally can’t stop stroking the sleeves. It’s so true that fabric is what makes or breaks the pleasure of wearing an outfit, and I’ve been slowly purging anything scratchy or creasy from my wardrobe, so this was a true treat. This top also has a much more versatile styling look than I initially expected – of course it could be styled super sexy with a bra or bandeau underneath, but I also love it worn as a smart work top like I’ve done here, or as sleeves under a summer dress to make it wintery, or give a simple shift dress a bit of drama and creativity. one_boutique_review_pauper_to_princess_24

All the One Boutique clothes are made in Britain and none of their website photos are airbrushed or had their clothes pinned – all of which is exactly what I love about the growing ethical clothing movement. It’s mad how rarely something you order online resembles what you saw on the website. They also do most of their dresses and garments in several lengths so you can get the perfect fit whether your tall or teeny. This top comes in crop top, loose fit, tshirt sleeves, vest top, v neck, and much more!

The other item I got was this midi length sweater dress. I know it looks super sunny in these pictures but it’s been FREEZING this week so I’ve hardly taken this sweater off. It’s really thick, almost scuba, fabric and is ridiculously snug. The midi length was a bit long for me so I tucked a corner into my leggings to give it an asymmetric hitched up look. As with the mesh top, this comes in a mixture of lengths within in each style, and can also be bought as a mini dress, or sweater top, and all in either black or white. I’ve seen the white version on Instagram and it looks fab too!

One thing I especially love about this dress is that the wrists are super tight (and therefore very cosy!) but the neck is quite loose. It means you get a great fit and your sleeve hems don’t get in the way, but you don’t have that super tight suffocating turtle neck thing going on! It’s got batwing style sleeves above the wrists so is really snug and comfortable, and a wide fitting body for that casual sporty vibe.

I paired it with a big necklace, heels, and leather leggings for a sort of dramatic evening look, but it’d work just as well with converses for shopping, or even over jeans if you’re battling the cold like I am!one_boutique_review_pauper_to_princess_6
